On the glacier below Kitzsteinhorn there are typical clear and regularly inclined blue and red glacier trails. Since 2015/16, the main lines have been serviced by a modern gondola lift instead of the former ski lifts. The entire glacier has a very impressive view of Lake Zell am See, from the top of the ridge of the Hohe Tauern. Kaprun is one of the most popular ski destinations in Austria, which corresponds to the overall traffic.

From the Alpincenter, the Kitzsteinhorn is directly accessible up to 3,000 meters above sea level. On top of the restaurant, there is also an educational gallery, panoramic cinema and a viewing platform – simply a popular alpine destination for tourists from all over the world. Skiers must then reach the glacier plain by a short cable car.

Directly above Kaprun, there is a small Maiskogel ski resort (1,675 m) with mostly moderate modern trails and a comfortable chairlift axis with a children’s park. A popular children’s attraction is the 1,300 m long bobsleigh track with bridges, waves, switchbacks and jumps. The modern Tauern Spa Thermal Water Park is close to Kaprun.
