RESORT KAPRUN- KITZTEINHORN GLACIER
On the glacier below Kitzsteinhorn there are typical and clear blue and red glacier trails. Since 2015/16, the main lines have been operated by a modern gondola lift instead of the former ski lifts. The entire glacier has a very impressive view of Lake Zell am See, from the top of the ridge of the Hohe Tauern. Kaprun is one of the most popular ski destinations in Austria, which corresponds to the overall tourism.
From the Alpincenter, the Kitzsteinhorn directly reaches up to 3,000 meters above sea level. The gondola lift with the highest support in the world (113 meters, visible even from a great distance) .
At the top you can enjoy a restaurant, an art gallery, a panoramic cinema and a viewing platform – simply a popular alpine destination for tourists from all over the world. From here, skiers can reach the glacier plain with a short cable car. Directly above Kaprun, there is a small Maiskogel (1,675 m) with mostly mild blue trails and a comfortable chairlift axis with a children’s park. A popular children’s attraction is the 1,300 m long bobsleigh track with bridges, waves, switchbacks and jumps. The Tauern Spa Thermal Water Park is also nearby.
